About Us

Recognising a need for a Christian faith-based, affordable and caring retirement living environment for the community, the Central Baptist Church of Pretoria established a welfare organisation called the Central Baptist Church Welfare Association (“CEBACWAS”) in November 1980.

Glenhaven Retirement Centre - a village nestled on 3.3 hectares in the east of Pretoria, comprising 95 cottages and 59 flats, was officially opened in 1985. This peaceful retirement centre, known for its beautiful gardens, has become recognised as one of the best value for money retirement centres in Pretoria, whilst providing top-class services.

Glenhaven was one of the first retirement centres in South Africa that had the foresight to combine the three categories of facilities for the elderly within one estate namely, Independent Living , Assisted Living and Frail Care. An Alzheimer's and Dementia unit has subsequently been added bringing a complete offering for every stage of aging with the intent of keeping couples as close as possible to one another as the levels of care they might change.

The comfortable and homely cottages at Glenhaven are available as rental units or for purchase on a 'Life Right' basis whilst the well-appointed flats are offered on a rental basis. A welcoming recreation centre provides meals and other services to the residents and members of the local community.

With the extensive knowledge and experience in retirement centre management, CEBACWAS is also the appointed management services provider to Haven Village Retirement Centre - an upmarket retirement village also located in the east of Pretoria.

CEBACWAS is a non-profit organisation. As such, donations are tax deductible and are used for the ‘Good Samaritan Fund’, a Fund established to care for those residents who may, due to situations outside of their control, lack funds to provide sufficiently for themselves.

The main aim of CEBACWAS is to provide holistic care, i.e. spiritual, physical and emotional care, in a comfortable, safe and affordable environment.
