What is life rights?
The right to live in a unit is purchased from the organization. This “right” is transferred to the owner and the rights cease when the owner or his or her surviving spouse passes away or the rights are sold to someone else. |
| 2. |
Does the life right have any value at the end?
Yes. The values of units under normal conditions rises. Upon death of the owner or upon decision to sell, 5% of the current value is deducted which goes towards the levy fund. The original purchase price is then deducted from the remaining value and the balance divided into two. One half is added to the original purchase price and that determines the value of the unit at the time. The other half goes towards a stabilization fund which is used to ensure the long-term maintenance and upkeep of the facilities. |
